Many travellers are asked to write a good review for the company they used, especially tourist from a cruiseship. Well i never thought to write one myself. The reason is to tell other cruisers how wonderful and reliable Gaetano from “Naples Tour Service” was. He managed and helped us, we were 8 of us, to have a magnificent and relaxing day, because some of us were a bit nervous about not have enough time to see everything, but Gaetano’s timing was impeccable and showed us the beautiful amalfi coast in comfortable and leisurely way. Attenzione! We spent 8 days in Naples and we booked 7 days of tours with Naples Tour Service, and it was an experience to remember. Salvatore was our driver, guide and comedian throughout the trip, and I give him credit: Our group consisted of four senior citizens and their respective adult children — that could not have been easy to deal with. Given the fact we had mobility issues, Salvatore took pains to ensure we did a minimum of walking. He even plowed through the crowds of Centro Storico (including through a wedding party) to make sure we got to our doorstep every evening. If you’re a family with older members, I would highly recommend NTS as they can help you minimize the exhaustion of a walking-centered city like Naples.
Salvatore made excellent recommendations for restaurants (including his childhood Gelato stand), and was able to structure our excursions to limit too much physical activity. NTS also made sure to have official and highly trained guides at the big sites we visited. Accolades to Anna (Naples and Pompeii), Tina (Paestum) and Michael (Caserta), Not only were they highly knowledgable and friendly, but they were able to customize our tours to avoid too much walking,
I admit sometimes the daily planning was a bit haphazard. We had to make changes to our schedule for various reasons, but ultimately that flexibility worked out in our favor. We moved so slowly, Salvatore and Ludwig had to customize the itinerary to suit us. My parents and my wife’s parents both said that this is one of the best vacations they’ve ever had and a lot of that has to do with Salvatore and NTS. My advice to you is to tell Salvatore and Ludwig exactly what you want to do, and they will try to make it happen.
Finally here were the favorite segments of our tour:
1) Naples Driving Tour: For old folks this was ideal. Salvatore took us some beautiful places and minimized physical activity
2) Paestum and the Buffalo farm: It’s out of the way but worth it
3) Amalfi Coast: Don’t just do Positano. Have NTS take you to end of the coast and drive back. It’s an amazing experience. Have them take you to Salvatore’s friend’s restaurant near Ravello for lunch. Best meal we had in Italy.
